Primary Use:
Treatment of essential hypertension (high blood pressure).
Also Used For:
Chronic heart failure, reducing cardiovascular risk, lowering heart rate, prevention of stroke and heart attack in selected patients.
Who May Benefit:
Patients with hypertension, stable heart failure, or elevated cardiovascular risk.
Warnings & interactions
Warnings:
Do not stop suddenly. Use cautiously in diabetes, thyroid disease, COPD/asthma, peripheral vascular disease, and before surgery. May mask symptoms of low blood sugar.
Avoid If:
Severe bradycardia (slow heart rate), severe heart block, cardiogenic shock, allergy to Nebivolol, severe liver impairment.
Interactions:
Verapamil, Diltiazem, Digoxin, Clonidine, other blood-pressure medicines, antiarrhythmics, insulin/antidiabetics, alcohol.
Common side effects
DIZZINESS, COLD HAND AND FEET, Fatigue, dizziness, headache, slow heart rate, weakness, diarrhea, low blood pressure. Rare: breathing difficulty, swelling, fainting, allergic reactions.
