Warnings & interactions
Warnings:
May cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), especially if meals are skipped. Monitor kidney function regularly. Rare risk of lactic acidosis due to metformin.
Avoid If:
Type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe kidney disease, severe liver disease, metabolic acidosis,
Interactions:
corticosteroids, diuretics, beta-blockers, ACE inhibitors, and certain antibiotics may affect blood sugar control.
